Ruth has lived in Wahkiakum County her entire life. She was raised in Skamokawa and moved to the city of Cathlamet when she married her high school sweatheart in 1966. They have three children, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Cathlamet and Skamokawa mean a great deal to her and she derives pleasure in letting people know what is so wonderful about this area. She graduated from Wahkiakum High School and attended Lower Columbia College for most of her artwork education. The rest is self taught and a God given talent. She specializes is original artwork for clients in many mediums. Her best known work is in stained glass and relief tile design. Her work is featured all over the United States and the world. Ruth has produced stained glass work since 1976. She likes to design the perfect piece of art for a client, and has depicted horses, herons, fish, cattle and the people themselves. Animal and flowers are a favorite, along with boats, cars and trucks. She has graced churches, homes, restaurants and offices with her work. Each piece that Ruth creates is "one of a kind" which she photogrtaphs and archives.
Cathlamet is a historical rivertown founded in 1846. It is located along the Columbia River about 60 miles from the Pacific ocean and about an hour and a half from Portland Oregon.
